This document is known as a living constitution because it changes from time to time. 7) UN Charter - As a signatory state to the United Nations, Japan is legally bound by this instrument. It is a multilateral treaty that provides the basis for the international organization's structure and its activities. In addition, it also has significant political implications for its member states. As a sovereign state, a constitution serves as the primary legal foundation for governing power in the state. That being said, constitutions have an important role in protecting rights and freedoms of individuals within their society. Due to this reason, constitutions are written with certain principles and provisions so that citizens can enjoy their human rights and freedoms under a certain constitution. eccc085e13
